We welcome the lay Buddhist scholars and practitioners around the world as resource persons to join us in this wholesome venture.

Vaishali Gaidhani, is a Doctoral Degree candidate (Buddhist Studies) at the University of the West, California.

Professional Work Experience:

Professional: Since 1993, 29 years of work experience in corporate industry consultancy in
sustainable development engineering, education and information technology.
Recent past job held until Aug 2018, in the position of ‘Head of Sustainable Solutions’
Since 2010, learning and teaching the Pāli- Tipitaka: Theravāda canonical and non-canonical texts.
Academic Qualification:

Ph.D. Candidate in Religious Studies @ University of the West 2018 – Present
M.A. Masters in Pāli and Buddhist Studies 2015
M.Sc. in Physics (Major) 1992
B.Sc. (Major: Physics, Mathematics & Statistics) 1989


Academic Accomplishments:

  • Presented Research Papers at various national and international conferences:
  • USA | (AAR/W conference March 2022, SASA conference 2019- 2022),
  • Sri Lanka (June 2016),
  • Vietnam (May 2019) and
  • India (multiple conferences in Mumbai & Pune from 2014 to 2017)
  • Teaching Abhidhammattha sangaha July 2016 to August 2018 and mentoring students’studies at the Department of Pāli, University of Mumbai, India
  • Participated in various Dhamma (study) tours in India, Nepal and Sri Lanka
  • Completed Course on Teaching Practicum at the University of the West

Positions Held and Work Responsibilities:

  • Adjunct Faculty of Physical Sciences at University of the West, CA USA since Fall 2019 until Fall 2022.
  • Teaching Dhammapada Atthakathā from Pāli- since August 2021 to present.
  • President and Founder: Religious Studies Graduate Council RGC at University of the West, Rosemead, CA- Spring 2019 to Spring 2020.
  • Participated and conducted various activities related to Religious Studies, especially Buddhist studies in the position of President. Arranged distinguished guest lecture on zoom.
  • Pāli Sutta Recitation: Member of the University of the West chanting group ‘Chanting for World Peace’ since March 2020 (every Saturday).
  • Conducted an online series ‘Fundamentals of Abhidhamma’ an 8-weeks- bi-weekly for 2 hours each (2×2) on Abhidhammattha Sangaho with Bhante Dr Ashin Kusala Kyi Khin from Myanmar. Taught Suttas from the Pāli canon to an online audience of strength of more than 400 around the world.
  • President: Sustainable Investing Club at the University of the West – Fall 2018 & Spring 2019
  • Sustainable Investing Club: In the capacity of President of the Club, presented to raise awareness about the environment on Air Quality, Water and Energy Efficiency and recycling of waste products.
  • Conducted presentation to Green Committee on ‘Sustainable Measures: ‘Energy and
  • Water Efficiency- a technical and commercial feasibility’ of Building retro-fitting and integration with Solar photovoltaics (renewable energy) that can be incorporated for both institutional (administration, and educational) and residential buildings.

Extra-curricular activities:

  • Guest Speaker at the ‘Social and Educational Movement’ Society for Women Empowerment in
  • socially engaged Buddhism. Teaching Abhidhammattha sangaho at the ‘International
  • Abhidhamma Society’, and Vipassana meditation practitioner since 1998.
