Bhante Revata

Credentials of Venerable Bhante Revata:

Ven Bhante Revata is a Theravada monk, contemplative teacher, and a storyteller. He teaches at the Chautauqua Institution NY. He also conducts weekly online meditation and Dhamma sessions. Previously, he was a visiting lecturer and had taught courses on “Contemporary Buddhism,” “Buddhism and Modernity” and “Pali” in European, American and also in Canadian Universities. He is a co-editor of the book: Human Dignity: Practices, Discourses, and Transformations. Bhante’s essays, articles and chapters have been published by various publications. Bhante also presented his research papers in several universities. Academically, he has studied South Asian, Sanskrit, religious and Buddhist studies and anthropology. Bhante holds many positions in many educational organizations and also as a spiritual advisor.
Originally, Bhante is from Bangladesh. He was ordained as novice monk in 1997 and had received higher ordination (Upasampada) in 2001 in Myanmar. As a monk he was trained in traditional Buddhist education, monastic training, and Vipassana meditation Myanmar and Sri Lanka directly from Goenka Ji and Pa-Uk Sayadaw. Bhante speaks several languages. He travels extensively teaching mindfulness in North America, Europe and Asia
