Brief Resume of Dr. Ashin Ñāṇavara
Nyanavara has spent my early life in Pajjotayon monastery in Monywar Mahāsī meditation centre in Loai Kwaw and Sītagū International Buddhist Academy, founded by the Most Ven. Dr. Ñānissara Sagaing Hills in Upper Myanmar. He completed his Ph.D program with the title of “Vipassanā Masters of Myanmar: A Study of the Evolution and Development of their Methods (From Colonial to Modern Era) and also completed his M.Phil Degree under the supervision of Dr. Arvind Kumar Singh with the title “From Sorrow to Happiness: Complete Liberation from Misery with Reference to Pāli Nikāya” in 2013 in School of Buddhist Studies and Civilization, at Gautam Buddha University, Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh (INDIA). Before joining Gautam Buddha University, he completed M.A degree at the Department of Buddhist Studies, University of Delhi in 2010-2012. He has been a preacher of the Buddha’s Dhamma in his country (Myanmar) for the lay disciples. In his country, he studied Pāli and Buddhist Literature over ten years and passed the Sāsanadajadhammasariya Degree which is equivalent to Bachelor of Art held by the government of Myanmar in 2006 and the Diploma (Buddhism) in Sītagū International Buddhist Academy in 2009. His area of specialisations is Buddhist Meditation, Applied Buddhism, Buddhist Ethics, etc.. After Studying M.A in Delhi, he approached the Vipassanā Meditation as a research work for M.Phil (Gold Medal 2013) and Ph.D in India. He studied and practised the Mahāsī Vipassanā Technique in Myanmar and the technique of S.N.Goenka in India in 2012 and Ledi meditation method in Central Ledi Meditation Center Upper Myanmar in 2015. He attended and presented research paper title with named “World Peace and Its Solution: A Buddhist Approach” at International Conference on Religious Tolerance and Harmony on 22nd of April 2015 in Sri Lanka, in Indian Society for Buddhism Studies, Jain Vishva Bharati Institute, Lundun, title with ‘Ledi Sayadaw and his Vipassanā Meditation Method: Evolution and Development in Myanmar’ on 11-13, 2015 in India and International Conference on ‘Applied Buddhism: Buddhism in Everyday Life’ title with named “ Vipassanā Tradition in Myanmar: A form of Applied Buddhism”, on 3th 4th of March 2016 in Calcutta. Recently He had received ‘The Peace Volunteer Award’ awarded by IBBE, YSSSRF 6th Global Award Ceremony on May 30th, 2016, Subharti University, Subbharti Puram, NH-58, Meerut (U.P) India. He already published two the research papers in Anukriti International Refereed Research Journal and in India. Moreover his thesis was published as a title of Vipassana Masters of Myanmar by Eastern Book Linkers in Delhi, India and 4 books were already published by Burmese language in Myanmar. 2019, he was sent to Australia as a Sitagu Buddhist Missionary monk. After coming back home country (Myanmar), he got the title of Mahagandhavacakapandita by the Government of Myanmar 2021. Now, he is giving the lecture for Sitagu International Buddhist Academy and working the research works at the Sitagu International Vipassana Academy. He believed that the practising of Vipassanā is the real research of researches, the body and mind is a researched field and the highest degree of that research is Arhatship. Therefore, he focuses on practising Vipassanā meditation in order to keep peace for himself and his environment.
