Reverend Doctor John Freese, M.Div., PhD.

John started practicing Buddhist meditation in college. He went on to become a monk with Thich Nhat Hanh. As a monk for 12 years he also practiced with other Buddhist and Hindu teachers in Europe and Asia. As a lay practitioner he has just completed 10 years of graduate school in Buddhist chaplaincy and practical theology. His research has focused on integrating Buddhist meditation and trauma therapy. 

The topic of his talk will be Trauma-Informed Buddhist ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) in which he correlates the six processes of ACT with traditional Buddhist teachings as a model of Buddhist spiritual care.
