This week, we are honored to have Ven. Bhikkhu Sugatananda Thera as our distinguished speaker. The topic for this session is “Subduing Hatred – AN 5.161-Āghātavinaya Sutta.”
Ven. Bhikkhu Sugatananda Thera brings a wealth of experience and insight to this subject. Born in Calcutta in 1979, Ven. Bhikkhu Sugatananda Thera transitioned from a successful legal career to embrace the monastic life at Mahabodhi Monastery in Bengaluru. Under the guidance of the revered Dr. Acharya Buddharakkhita, he has studied extensively in Vinaya, Sutta, Abhidhamma, and Pali language. He has also practiced meditation with masters such as Ven. Ajahn Anan Akincano and Ven. Ajahn Dtun Thiracitto.
Previously serving as the abbot of Mahabodhi Buddha Vihara Hyderabad and currently as the Secretary of the Maha Bodhi Society, Bengaluru, Ven. Bhikkhu Sugatananda Thera has dedicated his life to teaching, meditation, and community service. His talk on “Subduing Hatred” will explore the teachings of the Āghātavinaya Sutta from the Anguttara Nikaya, offering valuable insights into overcoming anger and fostering a compassionate heart.
