LCDR Aroon Seeda is a native of Rayong, Thailand.  He immigrated to the United States in June 2001.  He earned a Bachelor of Arts from Mahamakut Buddhist University, Bangkok, Thailand (1998), a Master of Science from the National Institute Development of Administration (NIDA), Bangkok, Thailand (2000) a Bachelor of Sciences from Excelsior College, New York (2009), and a Master’s of Divinity from University of the West, Rosemead, California (2012). He also completed four units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) in May 2016.

Chaplain Seeda enlisted in the Navy in May 2008. After boot camp and “A” School, he was designated a Ship’s Serviceman.  His first assignment was to the USS Kidd (DDG 100). There he was promoted to Ship’s Serviceman 3d Class.   During this tour, he served as a Buddhist Lay Leader during the ship’s WESTPAC deployment. Additionally  he was an Individual Augmentee with a Joint Prisoners of War, Missing in Action Accounting Command operation in Laos from April-June 2010.

In September 2010, LT Seeda was selected to the Chaplain Candidate Program Officer (CCPO), and was commissioned an Ensign in the United States Naval Reserves. After graduating from the Naval Chaplain School and Center in July 2012, he entered reserved duty.  His Navy Reserve tours include Marine Expeditionary Forces Religious (MEFREL) 116, Marine Expeditionary Forces Religious 119, Religious Support I Marine Expeditionary Force (RELSUP IMEF).  During this tour he support Exercise Cobra Gold 2017, 2018 and 2019 bringing coalition forces closer together and promoting multinational cooperative ministry. He was assigned as chaplain of NAVREG SW RCC , San Diego, CA. He deployed and served as supervisory chaplain at Warrior Transition Program (WTP), Germany in August 2019-September 2020. Then, he served as chaplain  at  Navy Reserve, Commander, Navy Region Southwest, Reginal Operations Center (NR CNRSW ROC), and he currently serve at Navy Reserve Naval Surface Force Pacific TYCOM Headquarters (NR CNSP TYCOM HQ).

LCDR Seeda is ordained a Buddhist minister by the International Order of Buddhist Ministers, Rosemead Buddhist Monastery and as Buddhist Monk by  Watmakutkasatriyaram Bankok, Thailand. LCDR Seeda is authorized to wear the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal ,Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (Gold Star), Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Battle “E” ribbon, the National Defense Service Medal and Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon and Navy Pistol Marksmanship Ribbon. He is also authorized to wear the Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist pin.
